Maori language week

Last week was Maori language week. Room 12 learnt lots of things from Maori language week like:
  1. Mahunga- Head
  2. Pakihiwi- Shoulders
  3. Poku- Stomach
  4. Wae wae- Legs
Then for the facials:

  1. Taringa- Ears
  2. Karu- Eyes
  3. Ihu- Nose
  4. Waha- Mouth
Now, in case you haven't noticed, these are actually the lyrics to a Maori body song. It goes like this:

Mahunga, Paikihiwi, Poku, Hope Wae wae
Mahunga, Paikihiwi, Poku, Hope Wae wae
Mahunga, Paikihiwi, Poku, Hope Wae wae

Taringa, Karu, Ihu, Waha e

(Note: Point to the body parts as you say the words)

In these photos, you can see we are teaching
Room 5 the body song. The name of the student I am teaching with 'Charlene' is long lost in my mind but I do know that we taught this class as well as Room 4. We had lots of fun and in the end me and Kayla ended up teaching the children again!
