For the past two days or so, now, me (Chayse) and Maia have been learning about:
Reversing, Place value, and Tidy numbers. Mrs Natuash told us to write a post about it, and give an example, and so on, so here it is:
Chapter One:
W.A.L.T
Reverse
When you reverse, you start from the lowest number (Which should usually be what you have to minus) , in the equation, and add up till you get to the nearest one. Then you have to add up to what you need to get highest number in the equation .Then you have to work up all that you have just used to add that made that number:
(e.g)
7.1-3.2=
3.2+0.8=4+3.1=7.1
Now work up what you used to make that:
0.8+3.1=3.9
Chapter Two
W.A.L.T.
Place Value
When you place value, you add the numbers by their sections. Then you add all their sections amount together, and that's you're answer: (The exact same thing with subtraction, just subtract!)
(e.g)
3.2+1.5=
3+2=5
0.2+0.5=0.7
5+0.7=5.7
Chapter 3
W.A.L.T
When you use tidy numbers you advance to the nearest one in both digit parts then you add them together. After that, you must remember this:
NOTICE:
You always add back what you took of, unless it was a subtraction question, you take off what you put on.
(e.g)3.7+2.5=
4+3=7
But, I added on, did I not?
7-1.3=5.7
The answer is:
5.7

This is a great post about your learning in maths Chayse! Well done. I can see that you are using reversing, using place value and tidy numbers to solve decimal problems.
ReplyDeleteWe have started learning how to convert a range of fractions to decimals so keep working hard at this; e.g. 4/20 as percentage.
Keep up the hard work! :)Mrs N
Great post about your maths Chayse! I can see you have learnt to reverse, use place value and tidy numbers to solve these problems! Well done!
ReplyDeleteYou have begun to learn to convert a range of fractions to percentages e.g. 4/20 as a percentage by first making the fraction out of 100 to convert easily.
Keep up the hard work! :) Mrs N
